Steel Shop Tennis Club, St. Louis' first new tennis club in 30 years, is situated at the north end of Main Street in old St Charles. The club is in one of the original American Car Foundry buildings. The complex was built in the early 1900’s, and has produced railroad cars for the industrial revolution, tanks to protect our freedom, and now a tennis club designed for tennis enthusiasts.

Owners Kurt Miller and Carobeth Kelly are excited to offer a new approach to tennis. Steel Shop Tennis club is designed with players and pros at the heart of the club. We understand the student-teacher relationship and embrace it. We have staff professionals to help you with all phases of your game. We also allow you to bring your own pro, which is unique to St Louis tennis. Our goal is to help you be the best player you can be.

The Club offers 5 courts that run end-to-end with nets that extend to the ceiling. Imagine never again having a ball from another court interrupt your match.  Each of our courts has a true 60’ by 120’ playing area.  Steel Shop Tennis Club also offers a new approach to the frustrating problem of finding quality practice time. In addition to five indoor courts, we also have three full size hitting alleys (25’ by 120’). Each alley has a ball machine that can give you the practice you always wanted but could never get.

Our programming includes: leagues, clinics, private lessons, and team practices for adults and juniors.

After tennis, you can enjoy a cold beverage in our snack bar or take a walk on the Katy Trail, which is just outside our front door. If you still have energy, you can shop or have lunch or dinner in old St Charles, one of the area’s best tourist destinations. With almost 100 shops, restaurants and bars, you never need to go to the same place twice.
